Royalty payments are 35% of net sale. That holds true for any type of sale, but the 35% is
based on Sensorotika’s wholesale net payment amount.
Thus, if a copy sells on Amazon, the payment is 35% of the price that Amazon pays to Sensorotika, minus other
expenses incurred during publication and distribution.
If a copy sells directly from Sensorotika, the amount is generally higher and therefore the author’s
royalty would also be higher.
Short story anthologies are calculated as a percentage of the royalty payout. The story contributed
will equal a specific percentage of the overall published content.
For example, if a published book has 128 pages, and an author contributes a 13 page story, that is
approximately 10% of the published work. Therefore, that author will receive 10% of the overall 35%
royalty payout (in this case, 10% of the overall payout equals 3.5% of the wholesale). Stories are
selected based on the needs for a specific publication; therefore some authors may have stories which
comprise 30-50% of a published book. There are no decimal or fraction percents, i.e., in the example
stated above, 13 pages does not exactly equal 10%, but is rounded to the nearest whole percent. This amount is
hypothetical and may be adjusted due to additional expenses.
Royalty payments are monthly if payment is made by check OR payments are made when
royalties amount to greater than $10 when payment is made electronically. Reports for sales are also generated
monthly and will be available online.
Authors with any published work in print will have access to the administrative system to view their current
account reports.
Royalty payment rates are the same for both eBooks and printed books.
Royalty payments do not apply in cases where specific use has been purchased – such as payment
for online display or publication in a newsletter.
